OzGardens began in 2002 as a collaboration between two well known orchid growers who loved Sobralias, Bruce Rogers of Bruce Rogers Orchids and Terry Root of The Orchid Zone. Bruce is well known for growing, hybridizing, and decorating with orchids in the San Francisco Bay Area since the 1980s and Terry is internationally known as the "Prince of Paphs" or the "Wizard of Oz". This is because Orchid Zone has a reputation for growing the finest, most unusual slipper orchid hybrids in the world. Bruce and Terry decided the time was right to bring Sobralias out of the hobbyist realm and into the general market place. They joined forces and kicked off an intensive breeding program to produce the world's finest Sobralia hybrids. Today OzGardens is the largest wholesaler of an ever growing collection of Sobralia seedlings, flats, and specimen plants.
